In this position you report to the Finance & IT Director BENEFRA and work closely together with the Operations Director. You will communicate with internal stakeholders (Operations, QESH, Finance and management) to ensure that day-to-day operations are well accounted, measured in KPIs and accurately reported to HQ. You have a strong drive to always deliver excellent personal results and you are passionate about control, operations, new technology, processes and working methods and support an innovative culture. The role assures high-quality data to help the Regional (and Global) Operations organization to take the right decisions to achieve company strategic objectives. You take a proactive approach by challenging with qualitative performance analysis to point out areas which need to be improved.

You will establish, control and analyze production related costs, product standard costing and manage a comprehensive cost control system. The new Operations Controller plays a key role in improving the day-to-day financial and operational insights. Improving the insights in operations will improve better business performance and therefore make a significant impact on the further growth potential. To guide Operations Management towards a better understanding of the business dynamics more detailed cost variance analysis needs to be developed. This helps ensure timely actions and drive continuous improvements in efficiency.

Together with the Operations Director, you will be responsible for the periodic, in-depth management reporting as well as the preparation and managing of the annual budget and quarterly forecasting processes for all production facilities costs. In coordination with the Purchasing team analyse, review and support material purchase plans and supply agreements to anticipate the forecasted cost pricing (ICPs). On top of that, direct and indirect operational costs of the factory (i.e. direct labour, repairs and overhead) are part of the analysis. This includes the variance analyses, reporting and commentary which you report internally and to the Group / HQ in London.

As the Operations Controller you proactively anticipate, build and communicate on-going operational KPI’s to senior management with actionable insights and advise on strategic and commercial decisions, cost control analysis and identify risks and opportunities. You prepare and regularly analyze cost price calculations driven by input from the purchasing department and/or operations team to advise the stakeholders.

Through your proactive analyses, you can make an impact on the entire organization. For example by carrying out analysis on margin, or the sales to production ratio, or an in-depth analysis of cost development. Furthermore, you will actively work together with the production teams to develop capital investment plans and cost analysis of proposed projects. You will work closely with Operations to drive continuous improvement of  production lines.

Good to know

As the Operations Controller for the Netherlands you have a broad scope in a dynamic setting. You are involved in supporting production line efficiencies (production time, OEE etc.), cost calculations and accurate forecasting per client/product to ensure healthy inventory levels. In this role, you deliver both financial and non-financial KPI’s for OMT preparation. These are presented in customized dashboards and advise actions to control working capital/waste management/OEE.

  • Bachelor and/or Master degree in Economics, Finance or Accounting
  • >7 years of experience in Financial Control, Commercial Control or Cost Control
  • Experience in a multinational organization is an advantage, preferable in a B2B fast paced environment (manufacturing or production environment)
  • Ability to read, speak, and write fluently and Dutch and English
  • Experience with and good understanding of plant control and supply chain control. Think of cost price calculations, yield analyses, cost to serve analysis, product and client profitability etc.
  • No nonsense, sense of humour and an accessible personality with a critical yet constructive and positive approach
  • Strong ability to work as part of a cross functional team
  • Possesses the structure and process experience of a multinational / matrix environment
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic setting with tight deadlines and ad hoc requests
