What do you do?

London based ADM Group and XLCONCEPT joined forces in 2021. Becoming one of the interconnected businesses of ADM, consisting of over 550 people across 46 offices in 33 countries, currently they have a focus capitalizing on the strategic fit between the businesses. We are looking for a talented Senior Business Controller to join ADM/XLCONCEPT in this exciting, challenging journey. In this position you report into the Senior Commercial Finance Manager (Paris), work closely together with the SSC in Barcelona and be the Finance Business Partner for the Client Managing Director and Client Services Teams in the Netherlands.

As the Commercial Finance Manager you are part of the team negotiating new, or renewal of, contractual and commercial terms, both for long term (managed services) as well as transactional contracts. Partnering with business to calculate and understand financial trade-offs and implications of key terms and business decisions. You support in developing annual client account plans & associated financial forecast, which you review periodically. Through insightful and data-driven analysis, you will stimulate growth and profitability improvement initiatives and work with the cross-functional teams to understand and boost the key drivers of the business. You attend (external) client review meeting to elaborate on the financial performance, manage the external management reporting towards clients which covers spend, spend profile, working capital, KPI’s, variances and trends.

On a periodic basis you manage the closing and internal management reporting process. You do the financial sanity check on the actuals, making sure all cost and revenue is accounted for, reconciliated and on the correct client record. Supported by the analyst working for you from the SSC you report on client account performance (covering volumes, profitability, savings, working capital, cash generation, KPI’s, variances risks & opportunities and trends) and business reporting (sales, sales orders, cost of goods sold, working capital movements). You do a root cause analysis which means deep diving into the numbers to really understand why there are variances and what this means for the performance. You share your insights during the business reviews and discuss which actions should be taken and how this impacts the (re)forecast.

Good to know

In the phase the company is in, we expect the Senior Business Controller to have an important impact on the transition towards the ADM structure. Not only integrating the financial reporting, tooling and structure in collaboration with the SSC, but also supporting and advising the business on process changes or (new) client partnership structures.

Who are you?

We are looking for a proactive, energetic financial who loves to work in a highly dynamic, changing environment. You have a can do attitude and are not deterred by obstacles in your way or unfamiliar paths. You can handle strong opinions, have an informed, independent opinion yourself but always listen and value the thoughts of others. You are an open communicator, know how to create relationships and support the business any way you can.

  • Master degree in Finance, (Business) Economics or Accountancy, preferably supplemented with a post-Master qualification

  • Min. 5 years of experience as a financial/business controller, within Accountancy or Transaction Services. Preferably experience with(in) an international (creative) organisation, retail organisation and/or (managed) services industry

  • Good IT skills; strong Excel and data manipulation skills, knowledge of Sage would be a plus

  • Strong communicator in Dutch & English; significant interaction with client and operational teams

  • Able to work in fast paced, dynamic setting with tight deadlines and ad hoc requests

  • Proven ability to be the commercial agitator and challenge current ideas & processes

  • Proven ability of working with different stakeholders and having international exposure
