What do you do?

To facilitate the strategic growth and centralisation of ETG Exchange Traded Commodities Vertical, we are looking for an ambitious Business Controller. In this position you report to the Finance Manager with a dotted line to the CFO of Exchange Traded Commodities. You will work very close with the Product Line Managers and traders within the different Commodity Desks, will be their business partner in translating numbers, presenting figures, reports and support them in business decisions.

As the Business Controller you will be responsible for the daily position and P&L reporting process, including daily P&L reconciliation (verification of official P&L with General Ledger), for various (soft) Commodity Desk(s), such as Coffee, Cocoa and/or Suger. These may rotate or expand over time, as the business desks are being centralized and onboarded in the newly created Amstelveen office. Furthermore you are co-responsible for the periodic closing and reporting of your desks, including a first analysis of the performance, profitability and variances. You will take balance sheet ownership where you have responsibility for the integrity and timeliness of the reporting, and will analyse and investigate with colleagues and traders on (complex) fluctuations in the positions.


Because of the transitional phase there is a lot of room for process improvement. We expect the Business Controller to actively contribute to the improvement of the daily P&L and reporting process, f.e. by looking at the possibilities to automize processes in Navision or by investigating the possibility to built a reconciliation and comparison bridge between Daily P&L and GL. Besides that you will be involved in several other projects such as assisting with the migration of the core accounting processes to India or assist with the onboarding of new or relocated business desks.

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Finance or Economics
  • 4-6 years of experience, preferably with 2 years of relevant experience in (soft) commodities
  • Highly proficient in Financial/ERP systems, such as Navision or MS Dynamics, and ability to manage high volumes of data (derivatives)
  • Excellent communication skills in English; highly matured to engage with senior management, incl. CEO, CFO, Head of Trade and Senior Product Line Managers
  • Ability to thrive in a highly entrepreneurial environment with lesser corporate structure
  • Able to work in a semi-manual environment that requires enhancement
  • Grounded, approachable personality; critical yet constructive & positive approach
