What do you do?
We are looking for a data-driven and commercially minded Business Controller who wants to help boost the success of fintech scale up Recharge.com. Recharge.com is the global leading one-stop shop for branded payments: digital prepaid credits such as prepaid credit cards, call , gaming and entertainment credits from carriers such as Neosurf, Vodafone, Spotify, T-Mobile, Playstation, Netflix and many more. They have shown impressive growth (40-50% per year) and secured several investment rounds over the last few years, including the recent Series B funding. The future expectations are sky high: they strive for a unicorn status within a couple of years! To reach this goal, Recharge.com is in need for valuable and actionable business insights that support strategic decision making during this ‘’next chapter’’ of scalability and growth.
Alongside your colleague Business Controller, you are the right-hand of the Manager Business Control and together, you will design and roll out a new and efficient analytics function (including budget and forecasting process) so you will be able to periodically provide the business with insights on performance, variances, trends, risks and opportunities. Combining your analytical skills and experience/affinity with data & tooling, you will significantly contribute to implementing and monitoring a new set of KPIs, both financial and operational, and work closely together with the business and the controlling team to derive the right actions from this. Structuring the financial, commercial and operational data into a data warehouse and setting up insightful customized dashboards.You deep dive into the figures, analyse the data, challenge the business to get to the underlying causes of variances and deviations and in that way, getting the true story behind the numbers. One of the most important costs to drive the customer funnel is the marketing spend, for example on Google Adwords. Tracking the marketing spend and analysing the ROI is of great value to the business and therefore essential to understand and act on.

Being an online business, the amount of data is limitless! In order to track the performance and guide the business, this data has to be analyzed and visualized with the usage of tooling like PowerBI. Visualizing the data will eventually lead to a better understanding of the performance and it’s underlying causes. Within Recharge.com, there is need for insights in several business topics, such as the effectiveness of the recently launched app, trends in refunds, retention rate, product value, sales per product/carrier/country, acquisition costs, just to name a few. But also investigating opportunities by identifiying new markets and products could be a topic to dive into.

- Bachelor or Master degree in Finance, Economics or Accountancy
- 3-5 years of experience as an (Assistant) Business Controller or Financial Controller
- (Strong) knowledge of Excel, ERP and reporting (PowerBI) tools
- Analytical, data-driven and action-driven, eager to know what drives the figures and what the business impact is
- Ability to influence at all levels, build bridges and valuable relationships
- Strong in prioritizing and can adapt in a high-paced commercial setting
- Affinity with process improvement and implementation
