Who are you?

As the impressive international growth of Rituals continues, they also continue to invest to be(come) a strong, value adding Finance team; driving decision support on an operational, tactical and strategic level. We are looking for a talented, ambitious Business Controller with a “scale-up” mentality to join Rituals in their exciting journey to become the number one global luxury brand in cosmetics. In this position you report to the Manager FP&A and work closely together with the other 2 Business Controllers within the FP&A team. You all have your own core (business) focus, but support each other when necessary, rotate over time to develop more broadly and work on strategic projects together.

In this position you will be the Financial Business Partner for the B2B Business Lines Wholesale & Travel. Wholesale consists of the shop-in-shop concepts and on/offline wholesale partners such as Bijenkorf & Douglas or the pureplayers like Amazon and Bol.com. It has a central & country management structure which you support. The Business Line Travel is centrally structured and focusses on sales in airports through Rituals stand-alone stores, and on board airlines, hotel chains and cruise ships. As part of the MT you focus on steering and driving Business Line/Channel/Region/Account profitability. You will be responsible for the periodic, in-depth management reporting, analysis and business reviews. You will provide actionable insights and KPI’s to advice on strategic and commercial decisions, also translating data into business insights together with Advanced Analytics & BI team. You analyse volume, margin, discounts and costs per Channel/ Region/ Account/ and initiate performance improvements (margin optimalization & cost reduction programs). You are involved in multiple business case for (re)newed B2B contracts; supporting (large) contracts with a strong financial model and advice on pricing, discounts, volumes, T&E’s and marketing contribution.

Furthermore you are actively contribute to the board material preparation & storytelling on enterprise level; not only the monthly enterprise performance decks, but also the quarterly forecast/budget & ad-hoc scenario analysis. You gather, validate and analyse the (consolidated and separate) performance, working closely with the business and finance colleagues to understand, explain and argument the variances, business impact and risks.

You will be in the lead to improve insights and control over the Working Capital & Cash development. You are responsible to monitor and analyse the Working Capital & Cash developments, set-up the Working Capital target setting and improve in-depth insights.

Who are you?

You bring the analytical capacity and eagerness to really understand and grasp the key drivers and complexity of the business in order to add value. You know how to ask the right questions to get to the underlying business drivers or arguments, understand the (chain) impact of variances on the business and can drive & quickly adapt to change.

  • Master degree in Finance, (Business) Economics or Accountancy, preferably supplemented with post-Master qualification such as RC

  • Appr. 3-5 years of experience within Business Control/ FP&A or as a (M&A/Transaction Services) consultant

  • Experience in international (fast growing) Retail, Wholesale, E-commerce industry is a plus

  • Strong analytical and financial skills; experience in analysing P&L, Balance Sheet, WCM & Cashflow

  • Excellent communication skills in English, make impactful presentations and support conduct effective business meetings

  • Able to build strong relationships, support and challenge the business

  • Independent and pro-active personality

  • No nonsense, accessible personality, critical yet constructive and positive approach

More about Rituals

Rituals is a global brand, established in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in 2000. Today, Rituals has more than 730 stores, more than 2150 shop-in-shops and 4 City Spas in 29 countries worldwide. They have seen rapid expansion in duty free, airline, cruise liners & ferries, as well as hotels. While off course the travel related channels do experience impact from Covid-19, Rituals is already seeing signs of recovery. E-commerce has doubled in size since the start of the lockdown - even growing as much as fourfold during the lockdown itself. Online is already good for 20 % of the group's total turnover. Looking forward, Rituals has the ambition to grow to 1040 stores. The main expansion area is China, but Rituals sees European opportunities as well: the store network in France and Germany can still be doubled, according to CEO Raymond Cloosterman, while he also wants to expand to Italy, Poland and Russia.

In October 2020, Rituals has opened a first flagship store “House of Rituals” In Amsterdam that adds new services and products in a unique world of experience. If the concept is successful, branches in more capitals will follow.

Rituals describes the new flagship store as "A sanctuary where your body relaxes, your mind calms down and your soul finds satisfaction”. The four-storey, 1,500-square-metre experience store offers a whole host of new services and far more products than an average Rituals store, as many as 600 in total. Shoppers can personalise gifts, there is a luxury perfume bar, exclusive collections of scented sticks, scented candles and luxury textiles for bed and bath... The retailer wants to test which new products appeal to the public. A wellness centre will open on the top two floors of the building next year. The store also houses Asian-inspired restaurant Rouhi, which aims to stimulate the senses with surprising flavours, textures and fragrances. However, due to corona measures, that restaurant currently has to remain closed: consumers can order a take-away box to pick up.
