More about AstraZeneca
A higher quality of life and longer life expectancy, despite a serious (chronic) illness. That's what AstraZeneca works very hard for worldwide. We explore the boundaries of science to develop medicines that make a true difference for patients. Our medicines have a strong focus on oncology, cardiovascular, renal (kidney) and metabolic diseases (CVRM), respiratory and immune diseases. In addition, we are working with the University of Oxford to make the AstraZeneca COVID vaccine available worldwide.
Spread over six continents, 75.000 people work on ground-breaking science. In the Netherland we have our head office in The Hague. The colleagues there supervise clinical research, ensure that patients have access to our medicines, provide information and work closely with all stakeholders in healthcare industry to improve patient care. In addition, about 100 colleagues in Nijmegen make early clinical research possible and new medicines are being developed at Acerta Pharma in Oss, especially to treat blood cancer.
BU Respiratory & Immunology
AstraZeneca aims to transform the treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) by eliminating preventable asthma attacks across all severities and removing COPD as a leading cause of death through earlier, biology-led treatment.
With common pathways and underlying disease drivers across respiratory and immunology, we are following the science from chronic lung diseases to immune-driven diseases. Our ambition in immunology is to achieve disease control and ultimately clinical remission in targeted immune-driven diseases. Next to the existing treatments on the NL market available today, we are working on numerous promising treatments, of which several will enter the NL market next year.

The culture is open, supportive and ambitious. It is a high performance environment, but with the continuous focus on teamwork and a healthy (work/life) balance. The communication style is very open and transparent, you’ll experience a lot of commitment and inclusion.
