Finance Manager for Beyond Beans
What do you do?
We are looking for an all-round, pragmatic financial who will support the growth of Beyond Beans by strengthening the finance function by setting up mature processes and becoming a value adding business partner. As part of the MT, together with the Global Program Manager, the Global Operations Manager and the Head of Sustainable Sales, you will form the core team guiding the business. You will be part of the dynamic sustainability team that is spread over The Netherlands (Amstelveen) and West Africa (Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroon). In Amstelveen, you will be working with a team of 10, working on program development, management and operations. Beyond Beans is based in the office together with their founding company in cocoa, coffee and cashew trade ETG Commodities (and many more commodities to follow).
As the Finance Manager, you coordinate the yearly establishment of the operational budget with country representatives and program managers. You analyse and advise on all submitted budgets and spending on a periodic basis and you report the aggregated budget realized and cashflow projections for all sub-entities to the Board of the Foundation and the Finance department of ETG, and actively discuss relevant variances.
You coordinate the accounting and financial reporting for the foundation, which is mostly done by the finance officer, and support on more complex issues during the close. You will handle some specific topics and ad hoc request yourself, such as VAT claims, tax issues and grants. Together with the finance officer, you are in close contact with the local finance teams in West-Africa, who report their financials on a monthly basis, you do the financial sanity check and manage the cashflow that is being reported to the HQ in Dubai. Additionally, you support financial exercises for funding proposals, coordinated by our fundraising team and assess opportunities for funding and accessible loans for sustainability activities.

The Beyond Beans Foundation is growing fast and recently became an independent foundation, which means the finance processes have to be set up and (further) developed in every area, ranging from implementing compliance & internal controls to the set-up of Dynamics. But also (improvement)projects and ad hoc requests related to payroll, tax and VAT need to be managed. You will initiate and monitor these projects and engage with an external consultant when necessary.

- Bachelor or Master degree in Finance
- 3 - 6 years of all-round experience in finance (independently managing a financial caseload) and preferably experience with managing different workstreams
- A passionate and ambitious worker
- Self-starter and all-round mentality; willing to execute simple tasks as well as manage big portfolios
- Analytic, accurate, efficient and problem-solving
- Fluency in English; fluency in French would be a plus
- Innovative and driven to continuously improve our projects and procedures
- Grounded, approachable personality, critical yet constructive and positive approach

Beyond Beans is the foundation established in April 2020 when Cocoanect B.V. integrated with the Export Trading Group (ETG), one of the world’s leading traders and processors of agricultural commodities. The Foundation is now the implementation partner of ETG Commodities BV trading company for sustainable programs, that are developed with and for industrial chocolate makers, coffee and cashew farmers. In close cooperation with the Sustainability Team in West Africa, the suppliers and program partners they support farmers to improve their farming practices towards a living income, they help communities to tackle child labour, strive to empower women, and protect the natural environment with agroforestry and conservation efforts. The Beyond Beans Foundation is fully dedicated to developing and implementing projects across ETG’s commodity supply chains in collaboration with partner companies, NGOs and government agencies.
The Foundation’s rapidly expanding 100+ FTE operational team consists of a multidisciplinary team of managers and field staff with experience in a wide range of topics, from tackling child labour to climate-smart agroforestry and promoting gender equity. The sustainability portfolio has grown 40% in the last couple of years and is expecting to grow with 20% this year. The Beyond Beans Foundation has its headquarters at ETG’s Regional Trade Office in Amstelveen, The Netherlands, and its core programs and activities are implemented through subsidiary foundations in Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroon.
