What do you do?

We are looking for an ambitious and confident Group Business Controller who wants to continue their steep learning curve. Now is a very interesting phase to join, since ERIKS is in transition focussing on centralisation synergies, (digital) innovation and implementing best practices. They have identified strategic business initiatives in the Fuel for Growth Program and a sustainability strategy in Project Future Proof 2030, where you will actively contribute to. You will become part of the Group Business Control team, who act as trusted advisors to the Management Board and Group Functional Leaders, supporting them with a broad spectrum of financial and business insights to support strategic, group level decision making. Besides that you will be in close contact with Country Business & Finance teams; supporting them, giving them guidance and challenging them on strategy and performance topics.

The team consists of 2 senior Group Business Controllers and 3 Group Business Controllers. A young, specialized team with a lot of ambition and drive to have a true value-adding role within ERIKS. They are jointly responsible to initiate and facilitate the group wide planning & control cycle, reporting on and analysing the company’s financial performance, variances and underlying business drivers. They contribute to and translate the multiyear strategic plan into a solid budget & forecast including the right milestones, drivers and KPI’s to ensure the realisation. They review, analyse and challenge the country strategy & performance to make sure it’s well founded and adds up to the group’s strategy.

Within the Group Business Control team everybody will have their own core (functional) focus, but you will support each other when necessary, rotate over time to develop more broadly and work on strategic projects together. On most projects and large recurring tasks you will work together with one of the senior Group Business Controllers, who will also play a coaching role in your further development as a finance professional.

Strategic projects

A significant part of your position will be spent working on improvement or strategic projects (“must win battles”). For example you could be contributing to the business case on how to structure the European SC/Warehousing footprint, assist in M&A opportunities, track and manage the implementation of a synergy case (CoE) or work on the implementation of BI & KPI dashboarding. Furthermore we expect you to identify best practices and deliver proactive insights, roadmaps, and solutions to implement these company-wide.

You bring the analytical capacity and eagerness to really understand and grasp the key drivers and complexity of the business in order to add value. You know how to ask the right questions to get to the underlying drivers or arguments, understand the (chain) impact of variances and can drive & quickly adapt to change.

Although ERIKS might have the size and footprint of a “corporate”, we still have the entrepreneurial culture, ”flat” hierarchy and flexibility to quickly react to (business) opportunities. And within this transitional phase there is a lot of room to make an impact, set up best-in-class processes and supporting the business in these changes. So long as you have the “do what It takes” attitude, are eager to learn, comfortable in reaching out to people and good at building relationships within all levels of the organisation. You will get exposure to a very broad scope of financial topics & strategic projects and will be well positioned for further (international) growth within ERIKS.”

  • Master degree in Finance, (Business) Economics or Accountancy, preferably supplemented with a post-Master qualification
  • Min. 3-6 years of experience as a Business Controller, within FP&A or in Transaction Services; preferably experience with(in) an international, multicultural organisation
  • You feel very comfortable with tools like Excel & Powerpoint. Power BI & Cognos experience is a nice to have
  • Excellent communication skills in English; a robust, open discussion partner at all levels
  • Together with the Group Business Control team you're able to build bridges and support senior management and the board in making strategic decisions by providing them clear insights on regional and product performance as well as investment proposals
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to maintain a broad formal and informal network
  • Strongly driven for results and have the ability to handle ambiguity and cross-functional team dynamics
  • Analytical and have a solution-oriented mind-set and a hands-on approach
