Project (Business) Controller - Add value as Finance Business Partner at International market leader, Roll Group

With their unique expertise and impressive asset portfolio, the Roll Group has grown to an international market leader in heavy heal & heavy lifting. To contribute to the further professionalisation of the finance foundation and to actively support & guide the business, the new position of Project (Business) Controller has been created. In this position you will report to (and will be the right hand of) the Group Business Controller and work closely with the Group Financial Manager, Controller Roll Dock and your other (international) finance colleagues.
Your first focus will be managing and improving the end-to-end project control process. Roll Dock journeys and Vessel dockings projects range from short-term (charter) projects (<6 weeks) up to multi-year strategic projects, which you will manage simultaneously. You start at the pre-contract phase, supporting & reviewing the (sometimes complex) tender process with standard cost models and customized financial models. From there you will act as the Financial Business Partner for the Project Management Teams, giving them insights and challenging them on project status, variances and risks. Deep diving into matters such as delays due to unforeseen circumstances (f.e. weather), material setbacks, flux in timesheets (hours), (unplanned) costs or investments etc. which could affect the milestones (revenue), costs or cashflow. At the end of the project you manage the (financial) project close out including a thorough analysis of the project (end) performance, key-learnings and take-aways. You use these learnings to continuously improve the tender support & project controls (incl. reporting) and to challenge the business on these risks or opportunities in future projects.
Next to project control, you will have a broader focus supporting the Group Business Controller with the (group) monthly management reporting, (functions) cost reporting, forecasting & budgeting (with a special focus on revenue & project/journey cost), ad hoc financial analysis and forecasting for strategic projects, investment reviews and the strategic multiyear plan.

• Bachelor or Master degree in Finance, Economics or Accountancy
• 4-6 years’ experience of which at least 2 years in project controlling; preferably within an (international) project B2B organisation
• (Strong) knowledge of Excel (modelling), experience and savviness with Accounting systems (Twinfield would be a plus) and business analytics tools
• Excellent communication skills in English; good level of Dutch would be an advantage
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills: open and transparent communication style, able to challenge colleagues in a positive way, a down to earth person who can bring a consistent and concise message.
• Realist/hands-on: Aware of own limitations, has a good sense of humor with a stable and reliable personality. Forward looking, focus on main drivers.
• Able to work (multiple) deadlines, excellent stakeholder management, planning and organizational skills
• Strong personality who is analytical, team focused, pragmatic, feels accountable, has a helicopter view and a positive/critical mindset
